H.R. 5242 Captive Mammal Protection Act

in House

Purpose: This bill would ban the interstate transport of captive mammals for the purpose of shooting them in canned hunts.
[teaserbreak] Status: Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. Referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.

Action: SUPPORT. Killing animals in “canned hunts” is inhumane and unfair. In canned hunts, wild animals are confined in fenced enclosures and then offered to paying customers, who shoot the animals for trophies. Often, the animals are raised by hand and artificially fed. The hunters typically are guaranteed a “kill” at canned hunt facilities.
