Update: Good news! This bill has passed the Assembly and the Senate, and was signed into law on December 20, 2007.
Bill Description: If passed, this bill would prohibit product testing with traditional animal test methods if a federally recommended alternative test method exists. The bill provides an exception if the non-animal test alternative does not assure consumer health and safety. In addition, the bill does not apply to animal-based research.
