Update: Good news! The state House of Representatives voted against this legislation on February 6th. As a result, the bill will not move forward.
Bill Description: If passed, this bill would remove the existing requirement that bird breeders be licensed in order to sell animals to the public as a business.

Existing law should be protected, not weakened. Licensing of breeders helps to ensure the basic health and safety of the birds, by reducing some of the animals’ stress as well as helping to ensure that conditions are less overcrowded and more sanitary. These all lessen the severity and likelihood of disease outbreaks and transmission to humans and other animals.
