SB 1167 Bans Certain Gases for Euthanasia [2008]

in Pennsylvania

Update: This bill failed to pass.

Bill Description: If passed, this bill would prohibit the use of carbon monoxide gas, chloroform, ether, halothane, and fluothane to destroy pet animals. This prohibition would apply to both individuals and organizations.

And there are a number of factors — such as using properly designed equipment and ensuring that it is properly maintained and operated — which translate too often into painful and prolonged deaths for animals. As a result, it is time to relegate these methods to the past.
