“Into the Adoption Thing Big Time”

in Spotlight

Last month, we told you about a great new book, Gorgeously Green, written by longtime friend to Born Free, Sophie Uliano.
[teaserbreak] Sophie has been on a whirlwind tour of the states in support of her book — including a recent appearance on Oprah with her very good friend, Julia Roberts. If you didn’t get a chance to see it, don’t fret! You can watch it by visiting Sophie’s website http://gorgeouslygreen.com/ where you can not only order her book but also find current tips, blogs, and information on ways you can make your life more “green.” Gorgeously Green currently remains in the top ten paperback advice books on The New York Times bestseller list.

As a supporter of our work, Sophie mentions Born Free USA several times throughout her book, including in a chapter about gift-giving — whether for a holiday, birthday, or some other special occasion. Sophie shares a personal story about her daughter, Lola, asking for a toy she and her friends were getting excited about. Instead, Sophie suggested adopting a primate — in return for which Lola received an adoption package complete with the primate’s bio, adoption certificate, framed photo, commemorative gift, and newsletter. Lola was delighted, placing a photo of her adopted primate in a place of pride. She has since told all her friends who now “are into the adoption thing big time!”

You, too, can make a difference by visiting www.bornfreeusa.org/sanctuary and adopting a primate. Your adoption sponsorship donation of $52 — that’s just $1 a week — makes a real difference in the lives of these very special animals as well as in the lives of all our Sanctuary residents.

To find out more and “adopt” one of these deserving individuals today, go to www.api4primates.org/c4_adoption_program.php.
