Sanctuary evenings

in Blog

After a week of regular rain showers, the Sanctuary has turned a nice shade of green. With the cooler temperatures, the monkeys have been active throughout the day, foraging, eating, playing with and chasing each other. But, now we’re back into the dry heat and they are spending their afternoons seeking shade and sleeping among the trees and other vegetation in the enclosures.
[teaserbreak] The mornings and evenings are when they are their most active. The evenings in particular are a special time. I like to take a walk around the Sanctuary watching the various social groups of monkeys. I am fortunate to even be able to see and listen to monkeys from my porch and late into the evening, even when it is dusk, I can still hear the monkeys calling out to each other as they settle down for the night. These wonderful voices are intermixed with those of thousands of other wildlife, including night insects, owls, coyotes, and pigs.

Until next week,

Sarah
