With the pet food recalls of 2008 still fresh in the minds of many animal lovers, many are still agonizing over what to feed their animal companions.
[teaserbreak]
According to an American Animal Hospital Association Survey, 73 percent of respondents said they pamper their pets by buying premium food. Forty-nine percent characterized their pet as a “member of the family” and 20 percent said their pets were included in their will.
It’s no wonder that our report on pet food is by far one of the most commonly accessed web pages on our website.
The information in our report is still the best resource available for conscientious consumers to use in selecting a commercial food for animal companions. In addition, the Organic Consumer’s Association recently printed a great article about Organic pet foods.
Of course consumers also frequently ask where they can buy good quality food. Typically you can find high quality foods at pet supply stores, “Supply store” is the key word — you don’t want to support animal cruelty by shopping at a store that sells live animals. I’ve also found great quality foods at natural food co-ops and stores like Whole Foods. You can also order foods online if you so choose.
Well, that’s it. I just wanted to toss a little reminder out to everyone to stay vigilant in choosing what you buy for your animal companions and where you buy it.
Blogging off,
