A 2653 Requires Labeling of Fur [2009]

in New Jersey

Update: Good News! This bill was signed into law.

Bill Description: If passed, this bill would require retailers to label all fur and fur trimmed garments with the species of animal and country of origin. This law would apply to all fur products, regardless of their value. Under existing federal law, the Fur Product Labeling Act requires that garments made entirely or partly with real fur must have a label disclosing certain data. However, the existing law does not apply to fur trim or fur products that are sold for $150 or less. A 2653 would fill in the loophole created by this $150 exception.
