The bear, the wolf, and the hunting dog

in No Category

I just had to shake my head at the recent newspaper report about wolves killing bear-hunting dogs in Wisconsin.
[teaserbreak] When a wolf kills a bear-hunting dog they call it “depredation,” a term used to describe the “plundering” of an “agricultural resource” valued by humans — this carries rather negative connotations and hence inflames anti-wolf attitudes … bad news for wolves.

But when humans use hunting dogs to chase down and kill a bear it’s called “hunting” or “sport.”

The animals lose no matter what … all of them, the bear, the wolf, and the hunting dog.

Let’s just call it what it is … Sad.

Blogging off,

Monica
