While protecting the circus-going public is laudable (the risk is real) it’s clear to informed and compassionate people that circuses make play-things out of animals who are forced to perform silly stunts and degrading acts, and are far too often abused behind the scenes and kept in close confinement. The new law is a good step in the right direction by British Columbia, and three cheers for its prompt enforcement.
