Bill description: House Bill 2372 makes abusing an elephant a crime. Owners and managers face a misdemeanor penalty punishable by a maximum year in jail and/or maximum $20,000 fine if they engage in any abusive behavior toward the elephant, including but not limited to starvation, electrocution, physical punishment that breaks the skin, insertion of any instrument into any bodily orifice, use of martingale chains, and use of block and tackle.
