Especially for Pets Inc., established in 1988, is a Massachusetts pet food and supply company with stores in Acton, Canton, Medway, Newton, Sudbury, Wayland and Westborough. Dedicated to responsible pet care, they offer only pet-friendly products and services, including grooming, dog training and educational seminars addressing all aspects of pet care. They also serve as a resource for pet adoption and rescue services. All Especially for Pets stores do not sell live animals.

Adam Roberts, executive vice president of Born Free USA, said: “Increasingly discerning consumers are taking a stand with their dollars to support good business practices. We applaud Especially for Pets for a conscientious decision not to sell live animals in their stores and therefore not contribute to the millions of animals suffering in pet stores and bred in mills.”

“We never have and never will sell pets,” said Amy Kinne, director of business development for Especially for Pets. “It is our culture to support local animal humane organizations and nonprofits through customer education as well as financial support. We are ever-mindful of our responsibility to help with the problem of homeless animals and therefore promote and encourage adoptions in our communities and throughout New England, as well as to support local humane groups and assistance dog organizations.

“Community service is one of the driving forces behind our business,” she continued. “Our development team is currently working on a special project to help educate the staff and volunteers at area shelters and rescue organizations. While this is still in the development phase, we expect that this program will have a direct impact on the adoptability of homeless dogs.”

Born Free’s mission is to end suffering of wild animals in captivity, conserve threatened and endangered species, and encourage compassionate conservation globally.
