Wild Animal Circuses Might End in Scotland

in Animal News

If Scotland implements legislation to ban the use of wild animals in circuses—supported by 98% of the Scottish public, according to a recent poll—it will become the first country in the UK to do so. This is in spite of promises made in England in 2012 that it would implement a ban. According to Adam M. Roberts, CEO of Born Free USA and the Born Free Foundation, “Many people saw the great news three years ago and believe that the ban must now be in place but, in fact, not one of the countries in the UK—England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland—has taken decisive action on this matter. We sincerely hope that, if Scotland takes the first step, then neighboring countries will follow suit.”
