Morrison explains that “pangolins are, indeed, the most threatened mammals in the world right now.” In parts of Asia and Africa, pangolins are killed for their scales, which some erroneously believe to hold medicinal value. The animals are also slaughtered for their meat, which is considered a delicacy in many Asian and African countries.
