Baby Elephant Caught in Poacher’s Snare

in Animal News

A Sumatran elephant calf was recently found with his leg entangled in a snare, in agonizing pain. The sick elephant was spotted with another calf and their mother at the Balairaja wildlife sanctuary in Indonesia’s Riau province, Sumatra. Conservationists fought to remove a rope tightly wound around the elephant’s leg that almost caused the critically endangered animal to lose a limb.
