Challenging Iowa’s Interpretation of Animal Law

In February, Born Free USA and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa appealed a judge’s ruling that the state of Iowa does not have the authority to register dangerous wild animals. “We truly believe that saying they don’t have the authority to implement such a rule is just a way to evade responsibility,” said Kate Dylewsky, Program Associate at Born Free USA. “The legislature never intended the registration scheme to be used this way. It makes no sense.”
