Tiger Conservation Conference Hits Some Marks but Misses Others

The 3rd Asia Minister Conference on Tiger Conservation, held in New Delhi April 12-14 and attended by Born Free and many other national and international wildlife protection organizations working on tiger conservation, resulted in a resolution that calls for the highest levels of government to take action to end poaching and the trafficking of tiger parts and derivatives, and to halt declines of tiger habitat and prey. However, the resolution stopped short of addressing the supply of tiger parts and derivatives from tiger ‘farms’ that feed legal and illegal trade (both domestic and international), and perpetuate demand.
