Armed Poachers Kill Rangers in Congo

Three rangers—half of a unit that deployed to the scene of an elephant poaching incident—were killed themselves in an April 23 shootout in Congo’s Garamba National Park. A total of 11 Garamba rangers and Congolese soldiers have been killed during anti-poaching missions in the past year.
