By hiding online records of welfare violations, the U.S. Department of Agriculture robs journalists, investigators, and the public of timely information—and takes pressure off of animal abusers. According to Adam M. Roberts, CEO of Born Free USA, “the government’s decision to make it harder to access this information further protects animal exploiters in the shroud of secrecy on which their nefarious activities thrive.”
