When a coyote got caught in a trap, his mate refused to give up on him, bringing him food to eat as he languished in pain. Sadly, despite the coyotes’ efforts and efforts by veterinarians, the damage done by the trap was too great and the coyote had to be euthanized. According to Born Free USA, traps inflict needless, prolonged suffering on countless animals like this coyote: “Steel-jaw leghold traps and Conibear traps slam shut with bone-crushing force, causing massive injury and trauma. Animals trapped in strangulation neck snares — designed to tighten around an animal’s neck as he or she struggles — also suffer in extreme agony for an unconscionable amount of time.”
