Not only is trapping incredibly cruel and unnecessary, it is also very wasteful! A new study on bobcats in Yellowstone National Park finds that the money each of these animals brings into the park and local area through tourism is over $300,000 per year, making them much more valuable alive than dead. As the article states: “A bobcat’s economic value depreciates almost 1,000 times” after the animal is killed.
