Born Free USA was featured on an NBC News segment about the international trade in primates for research facilities – a cruel trade that has expanded since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of our primate sanctuary’s monkey residents came to us from experimentation and we know first-hand the mental and physical suffering these animals experience even years after leaving that environment. Dr. Liz Tyson-Griffin welcomed the NBC News crew to the primate sanctuary, introduced them to some of the monkeys who came to us from labs, and spoke to them about the importance of developing alternatives to animal experimentation.
