Orangutan Escaped Toronto Zoo Enclosure After Performing Acrobatic Move
Summary:
Toronto, Canada – On Thursday, Aug. 29, a 16-year-old orangutan named Kembali escaped his enclosure at the Toronto Zoo — and performed some surprise acrobatic moves, according to CTV News.
After reviewing video footage and photos taken by visitors and conducting an initial investigation, the zoo said in a statement that “Kembali was on one of the towers at the south end of the outdoor habitat when he swung in a cartwheel-like motion” to avoid one of the barriers. Kembali then traveled from the bottom rope to the platform, around a wire near the top of the tower, and then grabbed a steel bracket below the platform to climb down from the tower.
Luckily, Kembali was returned to his enclosure safely and “without incident” after his escape, CTV News reported.
