Bill Description: If passed into law, this bill would require pet shop operators to provide information regarding proper care for animals sold by the shops. The data would be developed in conjunction with the state board of veterinary medicine.

This information will help to ensure that consumers understand the needs of animals purchased in pet stores. It will allow these individuals to understand the behavioral, social, physical, and veterinary needs of these animals — which will spur appropriate permanent care for the animals as well as strengthening the bond between the individual and the animal. It also will enable consumers to understand any signs of illness or stress that they observe in their animals so that they can seek prompt veterinary care where appropriate.
