A mere month after sparking international outrage for killing a healthy young giraffe named Marius, Denmark’s Copenhagen Zoo has exploded into the headlines again—this time, for killing four of its lions to make way for a new male. A zoo spokesman claims that the zoo tried to place the lions elsewhere, “but unfortunately there wasn’t any interest.” The lions were killed on Monday.
