Bill Description:
This bill prohibits the sale, purchase, or barter of ivory or rhinoceros horn and items containing ivory or rhinoceros horn, with limited exceptions.[teaserbreak]
“Ivory” is defined as any tooth or tusk from an elephant, hippopotamus, mammoth, narwhal, walrus, or whale, or any product made from these materials. “Rhinoceros horn” means the horn, or any piece of horn, of any species of rhinoceros.
Exceptions: These prohibitions do not apply where the import is expressly authorized by federal license or permit. It also allows use for bona fide scientific and educational purposes.
