Washington, D.C. — Born Free USA CEO Adam M. Roberts and Born Free USA Chairman of the Board of Directors Prashant K. Khetan have announced the appointment of new board members Nomi Prins and Brook Ashley. [teaserbreak]
According to Khetan, “We are very excited to have Brook and Nomi join the Board of Directors for Born Free and are confident that their diverse and extensive backgrounds in business, and their commitment and interest in animal welfare and wildlife conservation, will help us continue our global mission to keep wildlife in the wild.”
Prins is a renowned journalist, author, and speaker. Among her books are All the Presidents’ Bankers; Black Tuesday; It Takes a Pillage: Behind the Bonuses, Bailouts, and Backroom Deals from Washington to Wall Street; Other People’s Money: The Corporate Mugging of America; and Jacked. She has been interviewed by hundreds of media outlets including BBC, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, PBS, and NPR, and has been featured in several documentaries alongside prominent thought-leaders and Nobel Prize winners. Her writing has been featured in The New York Times, Fortune, Mother Jones, Newsweek, The Guardian, The Nation, and many others. Before becoming a journalist, she was a managing director at Goldman Sachs, ran the international analytics group as a senior managing director at Bear Stearns in London, worked as a strategist at Lehman Brothers, and was an analyst at the Chase Manhattan Bank.
Ashley is a real estate agent in Santa Barbara, CA, who has had Born Free in her life since childhood. She has known Born Free founders Bill Travers, Virginia McKenna, and Will Travers for many years, and even met Christian the lion when he lived in Bill’s and Virginia’s garden under their care. She has spent time with other Born Free-inspired conservationists in Kenya, such as former Born Free Foundation trustee Monty Ruben, and has been a longtime supporter of Born Free’s Zoo Check program. She was previously involved with Animal Welfare Institute and The Humane Society of the United States.
