Reconsider Buying a Pet Bird This National Bird Day

in Animal News

An estimated 20.6 million birds are kept as “pets” in the U.S. alone—and cruelty and neglect are realities of the exotic bird trade. The 13th annual National Bird Day (every January 5), sponsored by Born Free USA and Avian Welfare Coalition, is a day to bring awareness to the plight of birds, both captive and wild. Getting involved is fun, and you can choose your own level of participation. Visit www.nationalbirdday.org for more information!
