U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Declines to Reclassify Gray Wolf under the Endangered Species Act

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) rejected a petition submitted by Born Free USA and other wildlife organizations to downlist all gray wolves in the continental United States from Endangered to Threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The petition to downlist gray wolves was part of an effort to compromise with those who want to remove all federal wolf protections.
