David Cameron Under Pressure to Uphold Promise to Save Whales

Twelve animal advocacy groups, including Born Free Foundation, have launched an online petition to urge David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, to keep an election pledge to “save the whale.” Japan is ignoring international outcry by pressing ahead with its annual “whale harvest,” with plans to kill 4,000 minke whales over the next 12 years. As Born Free Foundation Policy Manager Mark Jones explains, “[Norway, Iceland, and Japan] have killed more than 30,000 whales since the moratorium… The British government has always supported the moratorium; we need our politicians to remain robust in their efforts.”
