California Bans Captive Breeding of Killer Whales at SeaWorld!

The California Coastal Commission has unanimously approved SeaWorld’s $100 million plan to double the size of its killer whale habitat, despite the pleas of animal activists to release the orcas into the ocean. But, the approval comes with a key condition… SeaWorld cannot breed any of the 11 whales in captivity in California. While Born Free USA is disappointed that SeaWorld’s Blue World Project has been approved, SeaWorld San Diego will be now be prohibited from breeding its orcas—which is a major victory!
