Born Free’s good friend Ofir Drori, founder of the EAGLE (Eco Activists for Governance and Law Enforcement) Network (which is also a Born Free USA global field project), was involved in the undercover effort to gather evidence against Ansoumane Doumbouya: Guinea’s former top official for wildlife protection and the country’s representative to meetings of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Doumbouya is now in jail, charged with conducting illegal international trade in the very animals he was responsible for protecting, including chimpanzees, gorillas, and bonobos.
