Trapping in New Jersey

in Animal News

Trapping season began in New Jersey on Sunday, and three foothold traps—spring-loaded mechanisms that grab an animal’s limb—are legal now. Born Free USA estimates that more than 300,000 non-targeted animals are the victims of traps each year and that for every intentional capture, there are two accidentally trapped. Visit Born Free USA’s Non-Target Trapping Incidents Database for examples of wildlife and pets unintentionally injured or killed by traps.
