While playing in a field behind their apartment building in Missoula, MT, two children came across a leghold trap with jaws that were reportedly large enough to catch a child’s hand or foot. According to Born Free USA’s Non-Target Trapping Incidents Database, there have been over 250 non-target leghold trapping cases since 2000. Although most of the victims have been family pets, these traps also pose a danger to humans, especially children.
