According to a citation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, zookeepers failed to provide adequate veterinary care to a tiger (Trini) who had been diagnosed with, and treated for, a broken tooth and mouth ulcers
in mid-April 2013. On May 23, Trini was observed to have an unsteady, abnormal gait, but zookeepers did not report it to a veterinarian or follow up regarding her previously-diagnosed problems.

A man was caught selling boa constrictors from his parent’s basement. He was charging over $3,000 per snake although the reptiles are illegal in NY.

A state wildlife officer fatally shot a monkey in the village of Neville after it was spotted running through a neighborhood. There were no reports of a missing animal. The monkey was not identified, but is believed to be an escaped pet. The monkey’s body was sent to the Ohio Department of Agriculture for analysis.

Authorities in Wisconsin removed a throng of exotic reptiles being housed in an urban residence including a Gila monster, crocodiles and snakes. They also found the burned body of a large snake, a dead 4-5 foot alligator, and a carcass of a fawn.

A woman was in her bed at her apartment when she was bitten in the hand by a 3-foot long boa constrictor as she reached for her alarm clock. The woman went to the hospital and returned home when released to find the snake under her bed. It is unclear how the snake got into her apartment. None of her immediate neighbors claimed the snake. The snake was taken to Napa County’s Animals Shelter.

An 8-foot long red-tail boa constrictor escaped from a residents home and hasn’t been sighted. This is the second escape for this snake. She was missing for a month in the previous escape.

A mountain lion was confiscated from a home. The owners brought the mountain lion home knowing it was against city ordinance. The lion was taken to the Cedar Cove Feline Conservatory in Kansas.
