May 23, 2013 Calhan, CO According to a citation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, zookeepers failed to provide adequate veterinary care to a tiger (Trini) who had been diagnosed with, and treated for, a broken tooth and mouth ulcers in mid-April 2013. On May 23, Trini was observed to have an unsteady, abnormal gait, but zookeepers did not report it to a veterinarian or follow up regarding her previously-diagnosed problems. Big Cats

May 18, 2013 Neville, OH A state wildlife officer fatally shot a monkey in the village of Neville after it was spotted running through a neighborhood. There were no reports of a missing animal. May 14, 2013 Napa Valley, CA A woman was in her bed at her apartment when she was bitten in the hand by a 3-foot long boa constrictor as she reached for her alarm clock. The woman went to the hospital and returned home when released to find the snake under her bed. It is unclear how the snake got into her apartment. None of her immediate neighbors claimed the snake.
