August 21, 2012 West Valley City, UT A woman and her dog were attacked by a snake believed to be a boa or a python in their backyard. The dog was attacked first, and when the woman tried to pry the snake’s mouth open to release her dog, she was bitten. The snake proceeded to wrap itself around the woman and started to squeeze. August 11, 2012 Las Vegas, NV For the second time in almost a month, a female chimpanzee escaped form her enclosure tying up Las Vegas police and the city’s animal control for more than an hour in the northwest valley. CJ, a female chimpanzee, was tranquilized and transported to the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park. CJ’s handler was not given an opportunity to reclaim her. CJ had escaped with her male counterpart, Buddy, on July 12. Buddy was fatally shot after he allegedly “aggressively approached” a group of onlookers. Primates
