February 1, 2012 Brownwood, TX A pet venomous snake that went missing about three weeks ago from a home is still unaccounted for. The snake is a monocled cobra. An Abilene Zoo herpetologist and a Texas Parks & Wildlife Department park ranger, among others, have been hunting it since mid-January since it was reported missing from the home of a 41-year old man who was in the Brown County Jail at the time. January 30, 2012 Jacksonville, FL Two Jacksonville men, father and son, were arrested on multiple charges of captive wildlife law violations involving venomous snakes and conditional reptile species according to FL Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The reptiles included 2 Gaboon vipers, a diamondback rattlesnake, a mangrove snake, an African rock python, Burmese python, and a green anaconda. January 28, 2012 Downers Grove, IL Police are investigating the theft of a boa constrictor from a Petco store in Downer’s Grove, Illinois. A customer saw a man and a woman taking a ball boa constrictor from a cage and alerted employees. The live snake was replaced with a dead one. Reptiles
January 25, 2012 Honolulu, HI An illegal snake was accidentally killed by landscapers cutting grass on Oahu. Police were notified and the snake was turned over to inspectors with the HI Dept of Agriculture. January 22, 2012 Philadelphia, PA A man selling exotic snakes in a Philadelphia parking lot out of his Toyota Rav4 was shot by the would-be buyer from New York. The suspect then took off with the seller’s car with 20 ball pythons worth $12,600. The car was found crashed with the snakes still inside.
