April 21, 2011 Frankfort, KY An African Green monkey was confiscated by KY Fish & Wildlife from a private resident and taken to the Primate Rescue Center Sanctuary. The resident was asked to “babysit” the monkey, which turned into the monkey being dumped on her. She contacted authorities intending to obtain ownership papers, which resulted in the monkey being confiscated. Primates
April 11, 2011 Milwaukee, WI A 22-year-old man was bitten by his pet Gaboon viper, a venomous snake, and was listed in critical condition. The Gaboon viper can produce the highest volume of venom and has 2-inch fangs so it can get the venom in deep. Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Division officers found more than two dozen reptiles in the victim’s home. Local police are looking into possible nuisance violations. Reptiles
