A Bengal tiger escaped from its cage and was found wandering down a neighboring street. The “owner” was out of town at the time of the incident.

A 2-month-old colt with the National Hispanic Circus ran loose in a parking lot and collided with a slow-moving car. The animal was euthanized after it was determined that a leg was broken beyond medical help.

A Burmese python was found in a toilet in an apartment.

A “pet” capuchin attacked his “owner.” The monkey grabbed a can of deck sealant to throw on his possessor, then dropped the can and leaped on the man, biting his stomach. This monkey had a history of biting.

A man jumped the fence to an outdoor snow leopard exhibit, stuck his hand through the cage, and was bitten by one of the two cats at the Miller Park Zoo. The man suffered only minor injuries.

A mountain lion and two bobcats were found in cages behind a house. The animals were malnourished and it was unknown how long the animals had been abandoned.

Five wolf-hybrids were found neglected at a woman’s home. The hybrids were found living in squalor along with 12 other dogs. A few of the hybrids previously attacked and killed a neighbor dog and charged at a neighbor.

A “pet” spider monkey escaped from its home and roamed a Columbia neighborhood. A woman saw the monkey in her tree and went to feed the monkey a piece of bread. The monkey charged after her, grabbed the piece of bread, and bit the woman on her upper left thigh. The monkey was not recaptured.

An orangutan at The Zoo escaped through a cage door left unlocked and then attacked and bit a keeper who tried to coax the animal back inside. The keeper was treated at a local hospital for bruises and five bite wounds to the knee.

A 15 year-old boy sustained a bite on his left index finger from his “pet” copperhead snake. The youth was taken to the hospital for treatment and subsequently released. Several pythons, boas, an alligator, and a South American Crocodile are found in the youth’s room at his home.
