Summary:

A baby howler monkey was euthanized at the National Zoo due to complications of metabolic bone disease. This disease can be caused by lack of sunlight and the zoo is looking into the monkeys’ enclosure to ensure enough sunlight is getting through.

A baby panda died shortly before this incident – cause unknown.
