A man and his dog, Cub, were hiking in the Cibola National Forest when Cub got caught in a leghold trap. Cub’s human companion said Cub was in extreme pain, but they were able to free him before Cub suffered any lasting injury. The trap was located approximately 80 feet from the road.

A stray dog–named Nittany by her rescuers–was found running in a residential neighborhood with a leghold trap caught on her leg. It took two days to catch her and give her emergency veterinary care.
