ALCOVA, WY – The owner took her dog out to a location that she had taken her dogs to many times before. They parked in the exact same spot, right off a little two-track. Within 30 seconds of unloading the dogs (and 20 feet away from her truck), her yellow lab got caught in a leghold trap. Luckily, the trap did not have teeth, but her joint swelled immediately and she was very shaken by the experience. The owner stated that she was very fortunate that it was her yellow lab and not her other smaller dog, as the trap surely would have broken his leg or worse.

A 6 mos old lab mix named Drake went missing on Valentine’s Day and was found that night in a creek by his residence. Drake sustained broken bones to his paws.

A cat was found in a alley caught in a steel leg-hold trap set illegally within city limits.

A trapper found a bald eagle caught in a trap he set out for coyotes. The eagle’s legs were injured and because he was unable to fly, was sent to raptor sanctuary.

A dog was found emaciated with a wire snare trap wrapped around its torso by a homeowner stringing Christmas lights. It is believed that the snare had been wrapped around the dog for about a week and was embedded in his skin. The dog was taken to a veterinarian and an investigation has been launched to find the person responsible for the illegal trap.

One of two dogs on a hike on public land with their guardians was caught in a leg-hold trap. The dog named Noodle sustained injuries to her paw and ear.

A 4-year old Siberian Husky named Neve was caught in a foot-hold trap on a popular hiking trail being walked. After 15-20, Neve’s guardians were able to release Neve’s paw. She sustained minor injuries.

Star, a rescue dog being walked on a public trail was caught in a trap and sustained injuries.

A grizzly bear cub was found screaming in pain having been caught in a conibear trap. Before the authorities could arrive to help the cub, the cub had disappeared along with the trap. The cub is thought to be severely injured.

Two cats were caught and killed in illegal traps where several were found in a neighborhood.
