A man was ticketed after catching a lynx in an illegal trap. CO Parks and Wildlife received an anonymous tip and were able to release the lynx before the trapper was notified. The lynx was thoroughly exhausted, but was able to run away after being freed.

A kitten returning home after several days came back with his front leg caught in a beaver trap. The kitten’s shoulders were crushed and the leg had to be amputated.

A Queensland Heeler puppy was found running on the side of the road with two rear “stumps” – exposed bone. It is presumed the pup had chewed off his legs after being caught in a trap. The pup was taken to a local vet and treated. Both rear legs were amputated.

Lady, a black lab mix, went missing for 24 days before she turned up back at home with a part of her leg missing and severe injuries from being caught in a trap. She was emaciated and evidently had to rip herself free from the trap to come home and save herself. Her leg was amputated.

A dog was found thin, weak, pregnant, and missing her right rear foot and a toe from another leg, believed to be caused when she was caught in a trap. She had also been shot. She is currently being treated for her injuries with the hopes that she can be fitted with a prosthetic leg. The puppies were all lost.

A trapper found a husky caught in a ground-level bobcat trap and notified officials. The dog, later named Kobe, sustained horrific injuries such as a swollen head 4-5 times its normal size and yellow discharge from his crushed eyes. Both his eyes had to be removed and he may lose partial hearing.

A golden eagle got its leg caught in a trap. The leg was so badly injured that it may need to be amputated. The bird was taken to the Raptor View Research Institute.

A woman found a bald eagle caught in a leg-hold trap. She freed the badly injured bird and took it to the Juneau Raptor Center. Both legs were broken as well as one ofthe wings. The bird could not be saved. The woman was charged with a misdemeanor for hindering legal trapping.

A hunting dog named Maggie survived getting caught in a snare trap meant for coyotes while out for a run with her guardian. Maggie was somehow able to survive. Four other similar traps were found nearby – all were legal.
