Summary:

SWARTZ CREEK, MI – Addie, a 12-year-old black lab and collie mix, and her little brother 7-year-old Panzer, an Australian cattle dog, snuck out of their owners’ fenced in back yard. Their owners spent days searching for them on foot, driving around town, posting on various lost and found pet pages, and going door to door with no luck. Five days later, Panzer showed up at home. He had a snare trap around his now infected neck that the owners were unable to remove. He was taken to an animal hospital for treatment and made a full recovery. Almost two weeks after finding Panzer, Addie was found tied to a pine tree in the woods about 3 miles southwest of their home. They immediately rushed her to an emergency animal hospital. She had also been trapped by a snare, which was so imbedded in her neck that it sliced her trachea, which later became extremely infected. She suffered frostbite from prolonged exposure to the elements, and upon returning home following the incident, experienced night terrors. Miraculously, Addie also made a full recovery.
